Desmos
Desmos was founded in 2012 with a mission to bridge the gap between the private sector and the needs of social welfare and humanitarian organisations, aiming for maximum efficiency and transparency for maximum impact. Collaborating closely with hundreds of charitable and public organisations throughout Greece, including schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, orphanages, and more, they document their needs and distribute resources to where they are most needed.
Desmos designs and implements targeted nationwide programs which span the social welfare, healthcare, youth empowerment, education and employment and emergency response and recovery sectors. THI Australia is proud to have supported two such programs: the I Care and Act education initiative and the Desmos for Youth program.
Desmos developed the innovative I Care & Act educational initiative to promote volunteerism and civic engagement among school children in Greece. This program has enabled over 31,592 students from 406 schools across Greece to participate in educational activities that encourage volunteerism and strengthen community bonds.
The Desmos for Youth program offers young, unemployed Greek graduates in various fields including social work, physiotherapy and nursing, the opportunity to be matched with a non-profit organisation in a paid position for 12 months. THI Australia’s support of this program has facilitated the employment of 2 participants, enabling them to acquire valuable work experience.
