The Hellenic Initiative Australia has committed more than AU$2 million in grants, supporting dynamic Greek not-for-profit organisations whose far-reaching programs are helping people throughout Greece.
Through our partner charities, THI Australia has helped provide millions of meals and in-kind goods and services, supported the homeless, equipped regional hospitals to provide lifesaving care for children, funded preventive and specialist medical care for people living in remote islands and supported vulnerable communities across Greece.
In 2019, through the generosity of donors such as Con Berbatis, $500,000 was committed for public health initiatives in Greece over the next five years.
Axion Hellas provides much-needed specialist and preventive health care services to people living in isolated Greek island communities.
THI Australia has supported Axion Hellas volunteer medical missions to six remote Aegean islands.
Boroume fights food waste and food insecurity by saving and donating more than 35,000 portions of food everyday.

THI Australia has supported the operation of Mobile Support Units in the Attica region and has provided emergency assistance for natural disasters throughout Greece.
Ithaca Laundry provides support to the homeless and disadvantaged in Athens through free mobile laundry services, along with social services, job counselling, and work reintegration programs.
THI Australia’s funding enables individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in a work reintegration program delivered by Ithaca.
Pedtrauma focuses on raising awareness about children’s accidents in Greece, reducing the number and severity of these accidents and improving the quality of care provided when accidents occur.

SOS Children’s Villages Greece runs a range of family-based care facilities and programs to support families and children facing financial hardship and adversity.

Mazi Gia to Paidi has been dedicated to supporting children since 1996. Their initiatives focus on alleviating poverty, promoting physical and mental health and providing educational opportunities to all children across Greece.
THI Australia has funded a selected number of families with the provision of supermarket vouchers and access to counselling services.
Wise Greece is a social enterprise and non-profit organisation that promotes products from small Greek producers locally and globally. Profits from sales are used to provide essential food donations to charities across Greece.
THI Australia has supported regional charities in Greece through the donation of Wise Greece Hope Boxes filled with essential food items.
